The Lightning are ending the season in really bad form after losing their fifth straight 3-2 to the Montreal Canadiens.
The Bolts had several chances throughout the game, primarily in the first period. They would give up two goals in the second period, both coming off of turnovers — first turnover at center ice the second was a failed attempt to get the puck out of the defensive zone.
Tampa Bay would tie the game five minutes into the third period courtesy of Vincent Lecavalier off a rebound. Unfortunately, Montreal would take the lead with under one minute left in regulation which proved to be the game winner.
The Lightning are eliminated from playoff contention.
